Bluewhite64 Linux
Live DVD is a live edition of the Bluewhite64 Linux operating system,
designed from the offset to allow users to try the distro without
installing it. The project is derived from the well known Slackware
Linux operating system and comes with the KDE and Xfce graphical desktop
environments.
The Live DVD edition of Bluewhite64 Linux contains software packages optimized only for modern, 64-bit computers.
From
the Live
DVD boot menu, the user can choose between KDE and Xfce graphical
sessions. The first boot option allows you to boot into the KDE 4.3.2
desktop environment, the second one into the Xfce 4.6.1 window manager
and the third one into a command-line only session. It is also possible
to perform a system memory diagnostic test.
Both desktops look traditional Both the KDE and Xfce desktop
environments come with a traditional look and feel, comprised of a
single-panel layout. The panel in located on the bottom edge of the
screen and contains various useful applets, including a task manager,
desktop switcher, main menu, system tray area and application launcher.
Includes some of the best open-source applications Despite the fact
that it features three different desktops, the distribution comes with
a single software selection for all the aforementioned graphical
environments. It includes some of the best open-source applications,
among which we can mention SeaMonkey, aMule, aMSN, XChat, FileZilla,
Pidgin, Mozilla Firefox, gFTP, Zenmap, Audacious, XMMS and
OpenOffice.org.
